Environmental
Officer
JOB SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure compliance with Malaysian environmental laws, regulations and standards (e.g. Environmental Quality Act, local DOE requirements, ISO 14001 etc.).

Develop, implement and monitor Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and Environmental Management System (EMS) at project / site level.

Conduct site inspections, audits, environmental monitoring (air, water, soil, noise, vibration, etc.) to check for compliance and identify environmental risks.

Oversee any environmental control measures (erosion & sediment control, pollution prevention, waste management, effluent treatment) and ensure their proper implementation.

Maintain records, prepare and submit reports to management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders – including periodic environmental performance reports and incident / non-compliance reports.

Liaise and coordinate with relevant authorities (e.g. DOE, local council), consultants, contractors, and internal teams on environmental matters.

Conduct environmental risk assessments, propose mitigation strategies, and follow up corrective or preventive actions when environmental issues are identified.

Conduct environmental inductions / awareness training / environmental meetings for site personnel to ensure everyone knows environmental obligations and best practices.

Handle regulatory inspections/enforcement visits, ensure permits/licenses are up to date, respond to observations / non-compliances (NCRs) and implement rectification actions.

Ensure site facilities, operations, and equipment are managed to prevent leaks, spills, contamination, or other environmental health hazards.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in one of related fields such as Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety & Health, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline

4-5 years well experienced in this relevant field and fresh graduates are mostly welcomed.

Qualified candidates who received Certified Professional Environmental Officer credentials (CePEOEIA) Certified Professional Environmental Officer in EIA Projects when involved in EIA projects / Certifications for Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) or similar competence in waste or pollution control /Certification or competency under DOE (Department of Environment) for environmental professional certification. Third‐party certifications like (CISEC) Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control / (CESSWI) Certified Erosion, Sediment, & Stormwater Inspector are preferred.

Construction industry experience is an added advantage.

Good communication and presentation skills.

Environmental friendly candidates are encouraged.

Good communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia (verbal & written).

Ability to prepare reports, environmental documentation, monitoring data, risk assessment.

Ability to perform environmental audits, inspection, and be detail-oriented.
SALARY RANGE: RM2,500 – RM4,500
